Our team

Nowadays, our team is made up of 30 people, a cooperative that was founded in 1982, with the purpose of creating our own employment. We educate and raise awareness about environmental problems and support the task of education. We also help teachers by facilitating outings into the surrounding natural environment.

We are an interdisciplinary and stable team trained in fields as diverse as pedagogy, psychology, social education, biology, environmental sciences, art, geography, design, technology and business management.

It is only via this professional and relational structure that is both cohesive and dynamic that we can face educational and professional difficulties and challenges. This structure is necessary in order for us to consolidate our work and contribute to the development of a more just, balanced and sustainable society.

Our principles and values

Environmental Education as a pedagogical strategy to improve people’s relationships with the environment and with each other.

Our different programs are based on Environmental Education as a pedagogical strategy that allows us to look at and understand the world that surrounds us. Meanwhile, understanding its complexity and temporary nature from an ecological perspective.

Environmental Education also provides us with a way to gain knowledge, namely through participatory research, which views learning as a process of shared discovery that leads to action, commitment and more. In this way the students take an active role in learning, they realize that they can build up knowledge, which they can use to change the environment they live in in a way that helps to improve it. This helps them move away from the passive role of receiving information and memorize it without processing it.

In addition, Environmental Education delves into three important areas that provide essential keys to learning to live and take action in the world: knowledge of oneself (emotions, reason, physical), knowledge of others in these same three areas and knowledge of the environment that surrounds us (from the ecological perspective mentioned above). This fosters students’ curiosity to examine all of this, from their personal experience and through their own learning, as well as from the contributions of others namely their peers, teachers, family as well as from other sources of information.

In a transversal way, we address the socio-environmental problems that occur in all educational activities today. These include: the energy crisis, disappearance of biodiversity, depopulation of the rural environment, intensive agricultural model, scarcity of resources, climate change, wars, immigration etc. We give suggestions on which approaches should be used in order to help to understand the complexity of these issues and promote healthy, coherent, supportive lifestyle habits. We are also committed to promoting ecology, which sustains life.

Looking to the future

Our educational project is not a closed or finished proposal. It is a ¨living¨ program that we aim to improve on a daily basis in response to the needs of a changing socio-cultural context. Therefore, we assume the provisional nature of our proposals and strive for critical reflection of the work, experimentation and research carried out, as well as the constant search for didactic strategies that promote interest in, and passion for learning.

Our will is to have a global impact on Environmental Education. We have turned our work into a passion and a permanent challenge.
